What Is This App?
The Foods4zoos application regulates and optimizes the logistics of the feeding process in zoos; from purchasing to foraging. The app supports the activities that ensure that the animals receive the right food at the right time in the right quantities. It is a so-called SaaS application. This means that it is a product that is accessible online and that is purchased and used by our customers on the basis of a subscription for which we charge a monthly amount that includes everything. So care, further development, support, use and hosting of the product are all in one price.
The app therefore arranges for the preparation kitchen what needs to be prepared that day and how much. A nutritionist can arrange the application, whereby diets can be composed per animal or group and per day. These diets can be passed on to the required ingredients by working with factors. These factors are determined on the basis of a number of things that determine the nutritional needs such as the size of the groups or the size of the animals in relation to the average (baby, adult, female, (too) fat or (too) skinny animal, etc).
Who Are We?
Applicatiefabriek is the owner of the foods4zoos. We work and develop software products on Kjerner’s ALAN platform. Foods4zoos has been developed in collaboration with Apenheul. The feeding process in primates is quite precise and the health of the animals is highly dependent on what they eat. By now, the application is used by several zoos so it can support different processes in different environments.

You cannot accidentally delete or change a diet, and summer / winter diets can easily be hidden or recalled.
By using the app, the purchasing policy has also been simplified, in the product list you can easily see the usage per week in grams per product, whether it concerns chunks or vegetables. Thanks to this overview, you can make competitive purchases and avoid unnecessary stock and the kitchen employees do not miss out on products, resulting in a higher efficiency speed.
